How many light-up letters to plan for a wedding

The LOVE pack: 4 letters, the classic

LOVE is by far the most requested word for a wedding. 4 light-up letters in 1m20 form a set about 3 metres wide, which fits in most reception venues. In front of the dance floor or against the back wall, the LOVE pack frames the first dance and remains the backdrop of the evening. In a garden, it provides the sunset photos that every guest shares.

The initials: 2 letters and an ampersand

The couple’s initials, separated by an ampersand, are the second most common request. 3 characters in 1m20 or 1m40 fit in a smaller space and personalise the decoration. They sit nicely at the entrance of the venue, where guests discover them on arrival, or behind the top table.

First names and MR and MRS

2 full first names need more characters, often 8 to 12 with the ampersand. You then need a wide enough wall or stage backdrop, or switch to 70 cm for a composition on a table. MR and MRS, with the ampersand, counts 7 characters and remains very popular for the first dance.

How many light-up letters for a wedding depending on the venue?

Allow about 80 cm of width per character in 1m20 and 90 cm in 1m40, plus a few centimetres of spacing. In a classic reception hall, 4 to 7 characters in 1m20 find their place in front of the dance floor. In a barn, a marquee or a warehouse, the 1m40 is visible from afar and longer words become possible. On a candy bar table, 3 to 5 light-up letters in 70 cm are enough.

Which size for which venue?

The 1m20 is the most versatile size: big enough to stand out in a room of a hundred people, compact enough to be transported and installed anywhere. The 1m40 is the choice in large halls, barns, marquees and warehouses, where it is visible from afar. The 70 cm completes the set on the candy bar table, the buffet or the bar counter.

Where do you place the light-up letters?
